How do I register games to my impulse account?
Published on July 27, 2008 By Jimmmyinc In Personal Computing
Hello!

I've had impulse for a while now, and while not actually using it to buy anything, I've reinstalled both galactic civilizations II and sins from it on more than one occasion.

Then today I signed on and saw that they had begun to sell the Sword of the Stars games on Impulse Store. I own the first game, and figured I might as well register it to my account (I had done this already with the original GC). So I installed the game, and then fired up Impulse, but it wasn't there. I moved the shortcut into the games folder, but it didn't show up with the information that the other games show- Game Description, History, Forums, Etc. Is there a way to be sure its part of my account?

Thanks.

AFAIK, they don't yet have the functionality to register non-Stardock games purchased separately in Impulse. I know they've talked about it as a possible feature in the future, but you can't do so yet.

Ah, well that would explain it. Thanks for the quick response!

I'm hoping it's a functionality that gets added in, because I own a few games that are being sold in the Impulse store that I'd love to have digital access to. (Namely all my Unreal games.)

its ok but until the range grows there isnt much to look at I bought sins before and it is registered in this account so its good that Stardock thought of that beforehand.

There is sadly not enough big-name games up on Impulse yet. I'm sure Stardock is working hard getting all the contracts sorted out which would be no easy task.

I hope they get the big names such as THQ, Activision-Blizzard and Ubisoft on-board soon.

If you do get the expansion to SOS, Impulse will ask you about where the original game is installed, and then install/attach itself to the base game. You don't really need to register your non-Stardock SOS base game.
